It is accepted that in 1685, eight Brothers from the Assemblage of St. John of God built the building. They were sent to Goa by the Portuguese Lord Dom Pedro II to see after the debilitated within the healing center. When the concealment of devout orders was actualized in 1835, the community was utilized as a healing center for the destitute and the poor.

In 1844, the community was bought over by the nuns of St. Monica to be utilized as home for their chaplains etc., and so the religious community inevitably misplaced its significance. And in 1850, the roof of the Church was evacuated. At long last in 1961, the community was repaired and reestablished by the Portuguese Military Constrain.
